Biography

Michael Hess is president of CPT Retirement Services, Inc., a Benefits Resource Company located in San Diego, CA. Mike, a California native and resident of San Diego, California, is a Registered Principal and Investment Advisor specializing in consulting and advising for employer sponsored retirement plans. Mike has earned the AIF® (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) designation through the Center for Fiduciary Studies, Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, which teaches globally accepted standards of care and investment best practices for trustees, advisors and other investment professionals. Coupled with his industry licensing, this designation uniquely qualifies him to assist plan sponsors in effectively managing and mitigating fiduciary liability associated with employer sponsored retirement plans.

Mike attended the University of Colorado on an academic scholarship graduating with a degree in Economics. Prior to working in financial services, Mike served on active duty as a commissioned Surface Warfare Officer and drove large-deck war ships for the US Navy with as many as 1,000 sailors and 2,000 Marines under his command. He is General Securities licensed (Series 7), a Registered Principal (Series 24) and an Investment Advisory Representative (Series 65). Mike competes in triathlons, is an outdoor enthusiast and has been a small scale craft brewer since 1995. When he's not working with clients, he spends his time with his wife, two children and three Labrador retrievers at their home in San Diego.
